DP5YOU: A webinar and training session for young people on education and new opportunities

On March 21, 2026, as part of the project “Digital Platform of Knowledge and Skills Development for Youth Working with Child Migrants and Refugees at European Level” (DP5YOU), co-funded by the European Union, an event was held in a hybrid format, bringing together approximately 80 participants.

All project partners also participated in the event, which created additional opportunities for meaningful dialogue, the exchange of experiences, and the coordination of further joint actions.

The event began with a video presentation about the DP5YOU project, its main objectives, opportunities for young people, and the educational potential of the digital platform. Participants were introduced to the platform’s features, the registration process, key stages of training, and the path young people can follow to gain new knowledge, develop competencies, and receive practical training for working with migrant children, refugee children, and other vulnerable groups of children.

The main substantive presentation within the framework of the project was delivered by the project coordinator, Iaroslav Galan, who holds a PhD in Physical Education and Sports, is an associate professor, and serves as the chair of the non-governmental organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE”.

In his presentation, he introduced the six DP5YOU Handbooks, which cover topics relevant to young people, and emphasized the importance of creating a high-quality CV as an effective tool for professional development, self-presentation, and the further engagement of young people in international and local initiatives. The speaker also paid special attention to innovative educational solutions developed within the project, including tools such as a board game, puzzles, and a maze game, which are designed to make the learning process more interactive, practical, and accessible.

Liliana Hutsulyak, a member of the project team and administrative staff member of the non-governmental organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE”, the project coordinator, delivered a presentation. As part of her presentation, she also conducted a training session on smartphone use, during which participants answered survey questions in real time on important and relevant topics. This format served as an innovative tool for engaging with the audience and collecting responses, and the results obtained will have practical significance for future scientific work.

A separate key segment of the event was a presentation on opportunities for young people, jointly delivered by representatives of the Chernivtsi City Territorial Community and the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council. The presentation was delivered by Nataliia Frunze, Director of the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council; Maryna Skrypnyk, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council; and Nataliia Sabadash, Head of the Family and Youth Affairs Division of the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council. In their joint presentation, they emphasized that issues related to supporting youth, actively engaging them in public life, developing digital skills, and creating real opportunities for self-realization are particularly relevant today. Participants in the event had the opportunity to learn more about the tools available to support youth at the local level, as well as the prospects for cooperation in the areas of youth policy, social support, and the development of youth initiatives.

A key component of the event’s program was the participation of partners from Portugal — ASSOCIACAO CHECK-IN, specifically Joana Galvao, who recorded an educational lecture on European values. The material she prepared will form an important part of the digital platform’s content and its educational resources.

Another key component of the event was the project consortium meeting, during which partners discussed the current status of the project, future plans, and the further rollout of the educational platform among young people in Ukraine and Moldova. Special attention was paid to coordinating joint activities, populating the platform with relevant content, and expanding its use as a modern learning platform for young people.

Project partners from Portugal – ASSOCIACAO CHECK-IN (Antonio Gomes), from Moldova – INSTITUTUL DE INSTRUIRE IN DEZVOLTARE MILLENIUM (Vitalie Cirhana, Alexandra Isaicul), as well as the National Agency for Programs Development and Youth Work (Vadim Smintina, Marina Certan) – actively and productively participated in the discussion of issues during the consortium meeting. During the meeting, they presented their vision for the project’s further implementation, outlined priority areas of cooperation, and offered suggestions regarding next steps.

Yuriy Muzyka, First Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, welcomed all participants of the event, which was held in a hybrid format. He encouraged young people to be active, proactive, and open to new knowledge and opportunities, and to actively participate in projects, programs, and initiatives aimed at developing the youth environment in Ukraine and Europe.

The event confirmed that the DP5YOU project serves as a vital platform for learning, collaboration, the development of digital leadership, and the creation of practical tools to support young people. It is precisely through the combination of innovative approaches, digital solutions, interactive formats, and international cooperation that new opportunities are created for high-quality training of young people and their preparation to work with vulnerable children.
