Non-formal education activities in Moldova and Portugal in the frameworks of DP5YOU

Within the DP5YOU project, partner organisations across Europe implemented non-formal education activities supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and inclusion.
Check-IN (Portugal)
The Photo Emotions activity was implemented at the Youth Foundation of Portugal with 20 young people aged 15-17 attending vocational education and training courses to become professional educational technicians. Coming from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, the participants were introduced to an activity they could later apply in their future work with children and young people, including immigrants and refugees facing emotional challenges.

The activity was adapted by starting with an energiser to strengthen group cohesion, as participants came from different classes and did not all know each other. A variety of images – including culturally diverse visuals – were placed around the room. Young people were invited to choose images that reflected their emotions, everyday challenges, activities they enjoy, or future dreams.

National Agency for Youth Programs and Activities Development & CRAT Bălți (Moldova)
On January 27, 2026, the Clock Meetings activity was organised in Bălți, bringing together around 40 young people in a safe and welcoming environment. The activity focused on developing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress management skills.
Clock Meetings is a peer-to-peer dialogue methodology based on short, structured discussion rounds. Participants exchanged thoughts on relaxation techniques, positive experiences, and strategies for maintaining emotional balance.

Facilitated by youth workers, the sessions emphasised voluntary participation, active listening, and mutual respect. The activity concluded with collective reflection and breathing exercises, strengthening group cohesion and helping participants integrate their experiences.
MilleniuM Educational Youth Center (Moldova)
The Strength Cards activity was implemented at MilleniuM Educational Youth Center, working daily with 12 young people aged 14-17, including refugee youth and young people from local Moldovan communities. The activity was part of regular non-formal education sessions focused on emotional wellbeing, inclusion, and personal development.

Following the e-booklet methodology, participants reflected on their personal strengths through guided prompts. Using creative materials, they designed their own Strength Cards, combining words, symbols, and colours to represent inner resources such as courage, kindness, patience, and creativity. Sharing was optional, and the environment remained calm, supportive, and non-judgmental. Participants kept their cards as personal reminders for moments of doubt or emotional difficulty.
