Transnational Meeting of DP5YOU Project Partners in Portugal

On September 4–5, 2025, an important transnational meeting of partners of the international project “Digital Platform for Knowledge and Skills Development for Youth Working with Child Migrants and Refugees at European Level” (DP5YOU)co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program, took place in Lisbon (Portugal).

The purpose of the event was to exchange experiences and best practices among project partners working with vulnerable youth and children. Particular attention was paid to discussing the plan for disseminating information, implementing effective approaches to monitoring and evaluating activities, as well as presenting the functionality of the DP5YOU digital platform and identifying priority tasks for the current year.

Representatives of the leading partner organizations of the project attended the meeting:

  • ASSOCIAÇÃO CHECK-IN (Portugal) António Gomes, Joana Galvão;
  • INSTITUTUL DE INSTRUIRE ÎN DEZVOLTARE MILLENIUM (Moldova) Ion Donea;
  • Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine (Ukraine) Viktoria Ryasna, Dmytro Ivanov;
  • National Agency for the Development of Youth Programs and Activities of the Republic of Moldova (Moldova) Dan Arnăut, Marina Certan.

The president of the Check-IN Association, Joana Galvão, noted the intensive program of the meeting and the high quality of the initiatives presented. She emphasized that the experience presented demonstrates how effective work with young people and migrants is at the European level, ensuring sustainability, inclusion, and support for vulnerable groups.

The delegation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine was headed by Viktoria Ryasna, Deputy Minister for European Integration. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of implementing European experience in the field of youth policy, as well as supporting refugee children and young people affected by the war.

The main part of the meeting took place at the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal and the Head of Liaison Office, European Parliament in Portugal. The partners also visited the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon, where a presentation was given on the DP5YOU project’s digital platform and its key areas of development.

The presentation was given by the project coordinator, Yaroslav Galan, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, head of the public organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE”.

In addition to official meetings, participants also visited centers for working with youth and migrants in Lisbon, where they learned about practices for integrating, adapting, and providing social support to young people in difficult life circumstances.

A critical moment was the meeting and informal communication with representatives of Ukrainian organizations in Portugal, who shared their experience of supporting temporarily displaced persons, establishing cooperation with local communities, and implementing initiatives to preserve identity and involve young people in public life.
